Pararenal fat, residing outside the renal capsule, is crucial for cushioning, insulating the kidneys, and maintaining a stable temperature essential for kidney function.
Variations in the thickness of pararenal fat are associated with obesity, metabolic disorders, and genetic factors. The renal fascia, a layer of connective tissue, encloses the pararenal fat and kidney, providing necessary structural support, limiting excessive kidney movement, and isolating the kidneys and adrenal glands from adjacent organs, which is particularly significant during surgical procedures.
